Herb  Grow your own Herbs  Herb

Have you seen the price of fresh herbs in the shops?

I use loads of herbs in the course of a week’s cooking for the family but I won’t pay the shop prices.

That’s because I’ve got an abundance of all kinds of herbs right outside my back door and I’ve even got some growing on the window sill - much to the annoyance of my good lady. Ever since I was a little chef, I’ve grown my own herbs (and since the court case I’ve removed certain crops - only joking!).

Herb

When I lived in a flat I grew them outside on the window ledge.
I must admit I used to spend a small fortune on fresh cut herbs because I thought you had to be especially green-fingered to achieve the right results. Nothing could be further from the truth as I discovered when I purchased several packets of seeds, a few trays and potting compost.

Herb

Since that time I’ve not looked back.
Over the years I’ve spent a few pounds buying and replenishing stocks from seed but in the process have probably saved hundreds.
Sadly, I’ve even given herb seeds as presents to my friends at Christmas together with all the instructions you need to get started in the cultivation of your own herb garden.
I’m sure some of my presents are still in drawers or have been passed on but for those who planted have since harvested some fine crops.

It had been suggested that we put together a ‘Novices Guide to Growing your Own Herbs Pack’ and offer it together with accompanying written guide and seeds and entice you to buy it.
Well, I thought about it for a while and reckon if enough of you are interested we could send you a pack containing several varieties of herbs for £10.

Sadly, there was not enough response to make doing so worthwhile, so this offer has now been withdrawn.

Herb

We now have an A to Z of herbs that will give you further information. Again we are asking for your help. If you have any interesting information about herbs, growing them, using them, the medicinal values, history or even long forgotten herbs.

Until next time.
Think about growing your own herbs - it’s in the best possible taste.
